Ethics 101: A Primer for Career Development Professionals (Part 1 in Ethics Series)

Career Development Professionals (CDPs) have an ethical responsibility to adhere to our professional code of conduct (Series 1 and 2 of the Pan-Canadian Competency Framework for Career Development Professionals). The accompanying Code of Ethics provides guidance for CDPs, across contexts and with diverse clients, to fulfill that ethical responsibility. This webinar will introduce the Code of Ethics and demonstrate how to apply it in practice.

Participants will:

·         Review the “professional responsibility” competencies outlined in Series 1 of the competency framework (1.1 – 1.5)

·         Learn about the 7 sections of the CDP Code of Ethics

·         Recognize the intersection of legislation, regulations, mandates, and standards of practice as they impact the professional practice of CDPs (Series 2: 2.1)

·         Discuss the types of ethical dilemmas commonly encountered in career development settings

Part 2: in the Ethics Series, "Ethics in Action: Working Through Ethical Dilemmas" will take place January 14, 2026 from 11:30 am - 1 pm.  Participants can register for both or either Part 2 or Part 2.
