Enduring the Unendurable: Providing Career Support to Those with Chronic Illness

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants will learn about the effects of Chronic Illness on career and quality of life.
  • Psychological aspects including grief and loss, depression and more will be explored along with intervention strategies.
  • Participants will engage in an experiential exercise to explore the impacts of illness on various aspects of life.

Biography:

Trevor Lehmann holds an M.Ed. in Counselling Psychology and serves as a Career Consultant at the University of Manitoba as well as President of the Climate-Informed Counsellors Chapter of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). With a deep interest in career development, grief and loss, organized labour, and climate psychology, Trevor has made significant contributions in these areas. Career Highlights:

  • Founding President of the Climate-Informed Counselling Chapter of the CCPA
  • Former Co-Chair of the Advocacy and Community Engagement Committee of CERIC
  • First Humanist Chaplain at the University of Manitoba

Trevor brings over 8 years of experience in Canadian post-secondary education, where he has assisted domestic and international students of all ages and academic levels, from high school to PhD, in making informed academic and career decisions. His counselling expertise extends beyond academia, with experience in non-profit community organizations, including five years with Palliative Manitoba, offering grief and bereavement support as well as presenting on meaning-making during difficult moments.
